Split hands, a volume per voice
The keyboard splits where the hardware splits. Cello, violin, brass, piano and clavichord each get a fader per hand, and the bass sits on the bottom keys with a tab of its own.
Product 03 / Mecate for Decent Sampler
A free Decent Sampler library of a 1970s Italian string machine. Six voices sampled from a real unit, rebuilt with the panel the hardware has: split hands, a brass filter with a per-note envelope, vibrato, sustain and string timbre.

Every preset except Bass, played and tweaked live. The captions say what each control does. The music is J. S. Bach: chorales for the orchestral presets, the Well-Tempered Clavier for the keyboards.
Bass, brass, cello, clavichord, piano and violin, recorded note by note from a real 1970s Italian string machine with every filter open. Then rebuilt in Decent Sampler with the panel the hardware has, so the controls you reach for are the ones that were there.
It is a sample library, not an emulation. The circuit-level version is on the bench as a standalone app and plugin. This one is free, and it runs anywhere Decent Sampler does.
The keyboard splits where the hardware splits. Cello, violin, brass, piano and clavichord each get a fader per hand, and the bass sits on the bottom keys with a tab of its own.
Every brass note opens its own filter. Attack and Decay shape the sweep, Emph. adds resonance, Contour sets where it comes to rest.
The Man./Ped. tab hands the brass sweep to a foot controller on CC 4, the way the panel switch did.
Vibrato speed and depth on the strings. Sustain sets the release on strings and brass. String Timbre goes from mellow to bright.
Every voice was recorded with its filters wide open, so the shaping happens in Decent Sampler, live, under your hands.
CC BY 4.0. Music you make with it needs no credit. Credit is only required when you share the library or the samples themselves.
Every preset loads the same panel. They are starting points, not cages: any voice can be faded in or out from any of them.
Cello and brass on the left, violin on the right. The whole machine at once.
Cello and violin, slow attack, gentle vibrato.
Brass on both hands, with the filter envelope doing the talking.
Piano on top, strings swelling in behind.
Piano and clavichord, blended per hand.
Clavichord: bright, percussive, short release.
Slow attack, long release. Leave the room.
Bass. It is a bass.
